Now that it's announced, it seems like DS Card it was inevitable, doesn't it? TT Games and Disney Interactive Studios have revealed that the latest franchise to get the LEGO videogame treatment is Disney's blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean films, with a release date planned to coincide with the upcoming fourth film next May.

Simply called LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game, the title will feature Captain Jack Sparrow and "other familiar characters" (you know, the characters never particularly beloved enough for people to bother remembering their names). As with previous LEGO games like Star Wars and Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean will feature storylines from the three previous movies, as well as the upcoming witstech a81 fourth movie, On Stranger Tides.

"The action-packed world of Pirates of the Caribbean is a perfect fit for LEGO video games," said Tom Stone, managing director of TT Games Publishing. "With so many wonderful characters, in such amazing environments, our teams are having great fun -- and we're sure that players will, too."

Yesterday, BioWare revealed a single teaser image for a new game they plan to announce during the Spike TV VGAs SmartQ V7 next month. And in what will sure come as no surprise to you, it took only 24 hours for an anonymous source to spread a rumored synopsis of what we can expect: a multiplayer-focused Mass Effect spin-off.

As Kotaku reports, a "development source" tells them the game is being made by BioWare Montreal, which contributed to Mass Effect 2 during that game's development. And by "multiplayer-focused," that doesn't mean to expect a massively multiplayer game like Star Wars: The Old Republic; rather, the source says it's more along the lines of the multiplayer offered in the Call of Duty series. Which makes enough sense, since the core action in Mass Effect is essentially an over-the-shoulder shooter.

This source also says the game will have a single-player component, but it'll put players in control of a character other than Commander Shepard. And while obviously none of this is confirmed yet, there is some corroborating evidence: Kotaku points out that BioWare Eken M002 Montreal was specifically looking for multiplayer programmers back in June (via CinemaBlend), and BioWare CEO Greg Zeschuk has also previously stated that they intend to make more games in the Mass Effect universe outside of the main trilogy.

Torne, the digital video recorder (DVR) unit that connects to the PlayStation 3, has been a tremendous success in Japan. It received high marks from Famitsu and has sold extremely well since its launch in March.

Today Sony announced that update 2.10 "this winter" would add Twitter functionality to the popular service. While the on-screen menu already tells you how many other Torne users are watching a given R4i Red program, this update will allow you to actually read live tweets related to what's happening on screen.
